I Heart Faces - Dramatic B&W

This week's photo challenge is "Dramatic Black & White". A face does not have to be visible and they wanted something moody or dramatic. This picture came to mind. Between the flowers and her petite frame facing away, it seems like she is in deep thought. I love the mood of it.

 

 

I Heart Faces - Focusing on Angles

This weeks I Heart Faces challenge is all about angles....and I LOVE different angles in my photography. I actually wanted to use this one of our little Madison because I thought it showed how much fun she was having. Her hair and poncho bouncing as she ran around like crazy!

I think I may have gotten ran over as I was on the ground shooting up at her. Oh well, it was worth it :)

I Heart Faces - Kisses

This weeks theme is "We Heart Kisses"! This was a cute couple that was so happy to just be together. The thing I loved about them the most is they talked to each other the whole time, no awkwardness, comfortable giggles ..it was like I was not even there taking their pictures.

I Heart Faces - Places I Love = Rome & Africa

There is no contest this week, just a theme of posting pictures of places you love! Thought I would share a few pics from our trip to Rome and Africa.  That was our most recent trip....but don't get me wrong, the normal places we love are camping and local day trips!

On our way to Africa, we stopped in Rome for a short time. It was beautiful! I could have photographed every building, shop, shutter, street, store front...etc. It has such charm and history.

 

We spent a week in Africa in Aug 09' when meeting our daughter for the first time! Being in Africa was difficult because I got so so  sick and seeing the conditions of many peoples lives was hard to digest. We saw some amazing things we will never forget. People who are kind, smile even when living in a metal covered shacks while they sat in mud, a little boy smiling at me while his mom bathed him in their back yard while it was freezing outside and a little girl who cried and held onto my leg when we were leaving an orphanage. It was a life changing trip on many levels...so though it was a very difficult trip, it was one I loved and could never regret... I think about it daily.

This was moments after holding her for the very first time... I was balling and sick and she was as happy as could be! Perfect!

 

 

And yes, we brought our 3 year old on this trip. I am SO glad we did. She was the best traveler ever, had so much fun, remembers a lot and was at the pinnacle of happiness when she met her sister for the first time.   
 
   

I heart faces....is kinda addicting

I have decided to just enter into the weekly contests that stand out to me...this one did.

This week the photo challenge is Texture! I use textures in my pictures here and there. Not too much, but when I do, I normally LOVE the look it gives the image. I love vintagey aged photos so that is usually the texture look I am drawn to.

I decided to enter this picture of my little Madison. I love how this texture makes the picture look a bit aged and dusty.
