    4th of July fun...

We keep up with what is happening in Ethiopia because of our adoption and ever growing love for the people in Africa. Knowing a lot of what goes on there and the conditions that millions of people are in, made 4th of July a little different for me this year. I totally enjoyed the BBQ, friends, fireworks and all that, but focusing on all we have in America vs. what people in Africa do without...made the day more to me then I think it ever has before. Our country is far from perfect, but the freedom and prosperity we have here is MUCH to be thankful for! Very thankful!

I wanted a day off with my camera, but Jonathan was up for taking some pictures of our day. I picked some of my favorites to share with you! These are all Jonathan, with my editing touch :)

We are celebrating our much appreciated freedom. BBQ, friends, Olive Garden, chilling on the roof, fire works and now a movie with a yummy glass of wine!! Oh what a day!

    Baby Ella

    Remember Jen's maternity session?

    IMG_4536

About two weeks ago she delivered her sweet baby daughter... Ella.

Jen is so beyond happy to have her baby girl hear to hold and care for. Ella was born into a family that is full of joy, wisdom and love. They are our dear friends and we are so thankful for Ella's safe delivery and good health. What a sweetie.

Meet Ella and her cute girly things...

    Sweet Family Session

Last Saturday we shot this very sweet family of four. We started out the night with dinner and then went over to this pretty park for a family session. Not only did they make us a home cooked meal, but they were so generous in helping us out with paperwork for our adoption process a few months ago. We were stoked to be able to capture their family and I really think we did just that!

Let's start with little man Luke. His hair is too much, I love it.

Next, his big sister Abigail. I love her eyes.

    Q&A for Heidi

    Q. I would LOVE to know how you get that chocolate look to some of your photos! You know, the look that's not sepia and not B&W but somewhere in between?

Hey Heidi! Thanks for checking out my blog!

    A. I get that color with Kubota Actions V.3. I use either BronzedGod 1,2 or 3 depending on what color I want. I love this set. It does exactly what you described...it is between B&W and Sepia. I almost never use any other thing when I want to go non-color.

Though I am a huge fan of my TRA Actions, there are some actions in this Kubota set that I use quite often and can't imagine being without! I will give you some examples below.

    BronzedGod 1

The Look - This one really makes the image pop and adds a rich look to the color.

Tea Stained - This is one of my favorites. It give the image the perfect desaturated look to give it an old or vintage feel.

Wash Out- This one you have to use sparingly. It is pretty drastic, but when it fits, I love the way it looks! It does exactly what it is called. (This is Washout ran on top of BronzedGod1)

    Outside Market

Every Thursday Fullerton has an outside market with fruits, veggies, honey and breads. They also have other things like.. rides for kids, a band and lots of other vendors. We go down there often to just walk around, people watch and enjoy being outside . Tonight I brought my camera with my 50mm 1.4 and kept it on 1.4 the whole time as it was getting dark (too lazy to bring out my flash). I love taking these types of pictures and thought I would share some :)

    Enjoy the bokeh!

    Dan & Aimee 2 of 2

Aimee and Dan live on a very pretty property in the hills of Brea (hills I did not know existed in Brea, Ca until we went to their place). There are horses on their property and you know I had to include those in some way! Aimee used to barrel race horses and was so comfortable with them....unlike me, I ran from them at one point. They are such pretty animals though, I loved all the nature at their place.

Here are the more maternity-ish pics:

They have not totally settled on a name, so we used the next best thing!

Aimee is the queen of stamping, card making and all things crafty. We used her stamps to get these shots..I could not decide which one I liked more. I loved her freckles in the first one and I loved the chipped blue paint in the second.

    They liked'em!

I can't tell you how excited I was to get this e mail from Samantha yesterday......

    Hello Kristin and Jonathan!
I just viewed our pictures and I just HAD to tell you how phenomenal they are! You really out did yourselves! Michael and I are so happy with the pictures and our families as well. We knew that you were talented but these pictures totally blew us away. It is so wonderful to look at them and be able to relive our day. You guys rock! If you need to use us as references or anything, we would be more than happy to tell anyone what a fantastic job you did. You were so professional. We totally felt like we could just trust you to do your thing and we didn't have to worry about it. Thank you so much again!!
